QUEEN’S PARK — Official Opposition Leader Marit Stiles called out Doug Ford and his Conservative government for voting against measures to make life more affordable by scrapping the tax on groceries:

“Ontarians are hurting. They’re being forced to decide between groceries, gas, and rent. While they desperately try to keep their heads above water, their Premier is spending $30 million on a luxury private jet for himself.

“While parents make tough choices at the grocery till, Doug Ford is choosing to keep life more expensive for Ontarians. Instead of putting money back in people’s pockets, he is taking money from taxpayers for his shopping sprees.

“Doug Ford has made it clear: he’s the Premier of wealthy grocery corporations, not the people. This is the second time he and his Conservative government have voted against lower grocery bills for the people of Ontario. He may not give a damn, but New Democrats do, and we’ll keep fighting for an Ontario that’s affordable for everyone.”
